I Never Knew You

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 7:22-23

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Daniel 12:2

The above scriptures seem to indicate that God wants to have a relationship with you. He wants to know you, and He wants you to know Him. Many people proclaim many things in "God's Name", and they do not know God and God does not know them. The book of Daniel seems to say that many people (not all) will awake from the dust of the earth and go to heaven and be with the Lord for all eternity. Some (not all) will go to Hell and exist in everlasting contempt. The two alternatives do not seem to be all encompassing. In other words, you may end up in neither place. You may not be awakened on the last day. You could simply cease to exist when you die. You may think that you are a pretty good person, and you may acknowledge the existance of God, but apparently, that is not enough. God wants a relationship with you, just like a father wants a relationship with his son or daughter. If you ignore God, He will ignore you when you die, and you will simply no longer exist. God is not a mean tyrant that will send you to hell if you do not obey Him. No sir! He is our loving Father that wants the best for us. Therefore, we need to do our part in establishing an honest and fruitful relationship with Him. Then, when we die, we will belong in His house, by His side. Evil people will go to hell, but people that just live their lives and try to be good, but never get to know God for themselves, they will die and never exist again.

On the bright side:
If you simply acknowledge the existance of God, you are half way there. Now, get to know HIM! His word is here for you. Read the Bible to get to know God. Love Him, Praise Him, Worship Him and Pray to Him. Then, He will speak to you through the gentle quiet voice of the Holy Spirit. God will not condemn you for your sins. We are all sinners and fall short of the Glory of God. He simply wants you to know Him and have a relationship with Him.
